Delete Your Smart Grocery List Account
Use this page to permanently delete your Smart Grocery List account and the personal data associated with it.
Delete your account from the app
If you can access the Smart Grocery List app, follow these steps:

Open the app
Open Smart Grocery List and sign in to the account you want to delete.

Open Settings
Go to Settings and select Delete Account.

Confirm deletion
Review the warning and confirm that you want to permanently delete the account.
Cannot access the app?
Email admin@smartgrocerylist.org from the email address associated with your account. Use the subject line Smart Grocery List — Account Deletion Request and clearly state that you want your account and associated data permanently deleted.
For security, we may ask for limited additional information to verify that you own the account.
What data is deleted?
When your account is deleted, we delete or permanently de-identify data associated with that account, including:
- Your Smart Grocery List profile and account identifier;
- Your name, email address, and stored profile details;
- Your grocery lists, list items, quantities, and notes;
- Your pantry information and saved favorites;
- Your household or family membership and sharing associations;
- Your reminder preferences and other account settings.
Content independently retained by another member of a shared household may remain where it is no longer exclusively associated with your account.
What may be retained, and for how long?
- Legal, fraud-prevention, or security records: We may retain limited information only when required for legal compliance, security, dispute resolution, or fraud prevention, and only for the period required for that purpose.
- Diagnostic records: Firebase Crashlytics may retain crash stack traces and associated technical identifiers for up to 90 days before removal begins, according to Firebase’s published retention information.
- Backups: Deleted information may remain temporarily in protected backups until the normal backup cycle overwrites it. It will not be restored to active use except for disaster recovery or legal obligations.
How long does deletion take?
We aim to complete verified account-deletion requests within 30 days. We will contact you if verification is required or if applicable law permits or requires a longer period.
